Ventura Bike Rodeo Needs Clowns & Volunteers plus Kids Donated BicyclesPosted: May 3, 2011
VCCool’s Bike Rodeo will once again join the Ventura Unified School District’s Summerfest. The annual event this year will be held Saturday May 21, 2011 from 9am-2pm at the District offices 255 Stanley (old Kinkos/old Vetco building).
Ventura Bike Union members have been working on this event since the close of last year’s and they still need volunteers to help between now and May 21.
In particular, we need Bicycle loving Clowns and Street-Theater Volunteers; rehearsals start this week. At VCCool’s 5th Annual Kids’ Bicycle Safety Rodeo over 1,000 participants are expected. The Union needs help showing folks how bikes build friends through short skits of about 3 minutes throughout the day. Contact: Rachel Morris via email or call 805-258-9369. FYI: VCCool is a non-profit that takes action on climate change. web
At the bike rodeo, kids learn safety rules as well as how riding bikes helps with the earth. They can get a new bike helmet, have their bike tuned up, and get a chance to win a donated bike. More bikes are needed so if you have one around, especially kids sized bikes, please contact VCCool.
Summerfest offerings include a food court, lots of camps, entertainment, a rock wall and other sports activities and lots more. The day kicks off at 8am with a 5k race walk.
